Abosolutely yummy for your tummy
Brown chopped bacon. Thinly slice whites of leeks and add to bacon drippings just until wilted. Add ground nutmeg, garlic powder, salt, pepper and chicken base (not boullion). Add water and potatoes. Bring to a small boil , then reduce to simmer 30 minutres. Let cool slightly.
Make a rue with butter and flour. Add some of broth to rue, then add rue to soup. Stir throughly, then whisk in cream.
Garnish with shredded cheese or french fried onions.....serve with your favorite bread or cracker. Grab a book, blanket...and enjoy.
