Preheat oven to 375 F
Place paper liners in cupcake tines.
Cream the butter and sugar.
Beat in eggs one at a time.
Add flour, baking powder, and salt, alternating with milk.
Beat well; stir in vanilla.
Pour mixture evenly into the pans and bake for 20 minutes.
Let cupcakes cool for an hour before frosting and decorating.
