Suggest a better descriptionIn large saucepan, sautee sliced onions in butter until tender. Add bouillon, water, pepper, salt, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer, covered, for 25 to 30 minutes to blend flavors.
Ladle soup into oven-proof bowls. Place one slice of bread in each bowl. Cover with 3 slices of cheese -- 2 Swiss and 1 Mozzarella, alternated. Place bowls on cookie sheet and put under broiler until cheese is golden and bubbly.
Low-sodium products may be substituted as needed or desired. Simmering longer than 30 minutes seems to blend flavors even more. (From "Something Unique" by Eileen M. Westcot, page 48.)
