In a small bowl combine butter, garlic, and salt and pepper to taste. Divide and spread butter mixture evenly on top of each fillet.
Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Place fillets skin side down in skillet; cook 4 minutes per side or until crisp and golden. Srinkle salmon with fresh thyme, and serve.
