A quick-to-fix and very tasty Clam Chowder from the Oregon Coast. It's called "Get Away" because you tell anyone wanting some to "Get away!" so you can have it all. :)
Saute onions and bacon in butter in a deep pot. Add potatoes, celery and water. Bring to a low boil and cook for 15 minutes. Stir in half & half. Now bring mixture to a rolling boil then pull away from the heat . Serve with a warm sourdough french bread.
Feel free to add in hunks of fresh rockfish, halibut, snapper or even salmon.
*Note that the saute can be with bacon fat alone. Butter is an enriching addition only.
