Suggest a better descriptionPreheat oven to 350. Grease loaf pan AND wax paper. Combine dates and baking soda. Pour over boiling water and let mixture sit. Mix sugar, butter and beaten egg and then add flour and salt. Gradually add vanilla and date mixture. Stir in walnuts. Bake for 50-55 mins, and check doneness. Cool in pan 30-60 mins., then turn out on side to cool. Don’t cut for one day!
