Cook burgers about three minutes on each side.
Drain on paper towels.
Drain grease from skillet.
Spread butter on one side of all slices of bread.
In the skillet place six slices of bread.
Top with slice of cheese, onions, a burger, another slice of cheese.
Top with remaining slice of bread.
Cook each sandwich until golden brown about 2 minutes per side.
