1. Caramelize onions until they start sticking and are uniformly brown, let cool
2. Cook pasta al dente
3. Mix 1/2 of cheese blend with all other ingredients other than pasta
4. Toss pasta in mixture to coat
5. Butter an 8x10 baking dish
6. Transfer coated pasta recipe baking dish
7. Top with remaining cheese
8. Bake covered loosely with aluminum foil for 10 minutes and uncovered until it sets, about another 10 minutes
