Suggest a better descriptionWarm over gentle heat or( I do it in a big glass bowl in the microwave) syrup, water, sugar and oil; till mixture is smooth. Beat eggs till fluffy and add syrup mixture to them when dissolved, then add the dry ingredients, flour and spices and add the bicarb dissolved in wine last - do it in a little glass bowl separately and it fizzes a bit – add this at end and mix well – do u have a mixer? It needs to be well mixed up.
I do it in a oblong tin 12x9x2
Line the tin with baking paper or foil as it is sticky and will stick to the tin
Pour mixture in tin
Bake no 3 /325/170 for approx 1 and a quarter hours, check after this time by sticking in a knife, needs to be clean
