This bread is yummy, rich and full of Italian flavors. It can be made to compliment any Italian dinner or be served as a great appetizer.
In bread machine basin add water.
Stir in sugar till dissolved.
Then add yeast, stir until dissolved.
Let set for 10 minutes.
Add the rest of the ingredients in the order they are listed.
Use dough setting to mix and let rise for one hour.
Dump dough onto greased cookie sheet (I grease the sheet with a thin layer of olive oil).
Split and form into 2 oblong loaves.
Let rise in warm area for 30 minutes.
Bake in a preheated oven at 370 degrees for 25-35 minutes (or until tops are golden). Brush loaf tops with olive oil and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Serve with olive oil. **for an added kick- try putting fresh minced garlic, fresh ground pepper and Italian seasoning in the olive oil for dipping.
To keep authentic Italian taste, use extra virgin olive oil only.
Bread machine usage is solely to make the bread-making process easier. You can make this recipe without a bread machine.
