Kush's attempt to make Tonushree feel a smidge better when she's under the weather.
1. Add basmati rice and moong dal to a bowl and rinse with water a few times till the water runs clear. Let it soak in the water until needed (5-10 minutes is fine).
2. Heat the instant pot in sauté mode and add vegetable oil in it.
3. Add cumin seeds and fry for 1-2 minutes.
4. Add onions, ground coriander, and asafetida. Fry until onions are light brown around the edges and translucent in the middle.
5. Drain and add rice and daal(s)
6. Add water.
7. Add the salt and turmeric powder. Give it a stir. Then close lid with vent in sealing position.
8. Change the instant pot setting to manual or pressure cook mode at high pressure for 8 minutes.
9. When the instant pot beeps, let the pressure release naturally (NPR).
10. Khichdi is ready to serve. Serve in bowls topped with a dollop of ghee, along with a side of papad and pickle.
