Suggest a better descriptionRinse lentils and drain. In a large saucepan combine lentils, beef broth, onion, salt, pepper, basil. Bring to a boil, reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 25 minutes. Add sausage, frozen broccoli and carrots. Return to boil and then reduce to simmer for another 30 minutes. I served this with pasta cooked on the side. If you cook the pasta in the soup it absorbs all the liquid. Serve with Pamesan cheese.
Option: instead of serving with pasta you may add 1 large potato cut into small cubes added with the carrots. Cook until carrots and potatoes are done.
