Suggest a better descriptionrequired also is some shortening or cooking oil for deep fat frying In a medium mixing bowl combine the cups of flour,sugar , baking powder , and salt. cut in shorteningor lard untill pieces are the size of small peas ; make a well in the center. stir together egg water or milk , add the egg mixture all at once to the flour mixture, stir til mixture forms a soft dough. turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for two to three minutes , adding the additional smaller portion of flour if necessiary ,shape dough into a ball , return to bowl.; cover with a damp towel. let dough rest for twenty to twenty five minutes . turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. divide dough in half. roll one portion of the dough to a 12x6 inch rectangle. cut rectangle into 9 4x2 inch pieces. fry pieces a few at a time, in deep hot fat at 375? at bout 1minute per side or till crisp and golden brown, drain on paper towel , serve warm.
