Apple//rum Brown Betty
In a large pan, on med-high heat, heat apples,cider, syrup, rum, vanilla, cinnamon and butter until apples are soft - not mushy - 10 minutes.
In a 8 inch pyrex dish, melt 2 tbsp butter, 2 tbsp brown sugar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon 2.5 cups of dried bread squares - 1/2" x 1/2".
Add baked apple mix to 8 inch dish mixture and mix to coat.
Process 1 cup bread squares in Magic Bullet with 1 tbsp brown sugar. Add 2 tbsp butter and blend with crumbs. Sprinkle on top of mixture. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Came out kind of bland - add more butter and brown sugar.
Alternate: substitute quick oats oatmeal for bread squares and crumbs.
Dried bread squares - remove top, bottome and sides from eight slices of bread. Cut into four equal size strips and cut each strip into four sections. Pile four slices on top of four slices to cut. Bake at 250 for fifteen minutes on a cookie sheet.
