-Saute onion in butter until translucent
-Cook nay beans 90 minutes in water
-Place onions, carrots, and celery in a large pot and cover with water
-Add boullion and salt, pepper, garlic, parsley
-bring to boil and simmer 30-45 minutes
-Add cabbage and simmer for several minutes
-Add cooked beans and juice
