Saw this in a magazine and could not resist.
1. Preheat the oven to 220?C.
2. In a pan, dry-fry ground beef until brown. Add the onion and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add the mustard, beef stock and thyme leaves and season to taste. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes; stir occasionally. Add corn and stout. Cook uncovered for 5 minutes.
3. Heat butter and oil. Fry sweet potato and turnips in batches for 3-4 mins each side, draining on kitchen paper after frying.
4. Put 4 x 10cm metal cookng rings on a foil-lined baking sheet. Put potato and turnip slices in base of each, divide 1/4 of beef between rings and repeat this twice, finishing with the potato & turnip. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Using a spatula, transfer rings to a serving dish, rest for 2 minutes then remove rings.
