Suggest a better descriptionMelt shortening in saucepan and cool. Add sugar, molasses, well beaten egg; mix well. Sift together flour, soda, spices, salt and add to liquid. Beat well. Chill overnight. Form into 1" balls, roll in granulated sugar. Press with fork. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Do not over bake. Store with fresh bread to keep cookies soft.
