Suggest a better descriptionSoak beans over night in cold water (I used Chicken Stock)
In skillet brown each side of the ham hock until a good crust forms. Remove from skillet. Add the onions and saute until soft, grate the garlic into the onion and cook for approximately one minute or until fragrant.
Place hocks, ham, onion, beans, brown sugar, cloves and cayenne and chicken stock in crock pot.
Place Bay Leaf on Top Cook for 6-8 hours in slow cooker on medium heat
Remove Hock and Bay Leaf
Suggested accourement: corn bread, hot sauce, ketchup, raw diced onion.
