To make dressing
Combine half cup vegetable oil, 2 Tbs cider or wine vinegar, 2 Tbs sugar, 1 tsp grated onion, 1/4 tsp dried mustard, 1/2 tsp salt. Combine in bowl and blend till thick and syrupy and sugar is dissolved. Refrigerate overnight and stir or shake before using.
Then assemble salad and pour dressing over it
