Tasty dish
1. Wash and drain beans. In 8 quart kettle, bring 4 quarts of water to boiling. Add ham shank, beans, tomato sauce, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper.
2. Bring to boiling; reduce heat, and simmer, covered, 5 hours.
3. Add potatoes, carrots, cabbage, and spaghetti. Bring to boiling; reduce heat, and simmer, uncovered, 15 20 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.
4. Remove ham shank. Remove meat from bone; cut into 2-inch cubes. Return meat to soup.
5. Serve with garlic bread. Makes about 7 quarts.
