No-soak pinto beans in the Insta-pot, very flavorful and delicious!
Rinse beans in a colander and transfer to your instant pot.
Add in the bacon grease, garlic powder, onion flakes and black pepper (as well as a ham hock, or ham steak, if using).
Fill the pot with the broth and water to cover the beans by a few inches, making sure not to
fill more than halfway full with liquid, then stir.
Click on the "Bean/Chili button. Set timer to 50 minutes.
Allow the Instant Pot to do a natural release. This can take anywhere between 25-40 minutes. Once the floating valve drops turn the knob to venting to release any final pressure.
Add a little salt to flavor, stir, then serve.
