1. Heat waffle maker.
Batter:
2.. In a large bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, puree, 1/3 cup of the sugar, butter and vanilla.
4. Mix the wet and dry ingredients. Stir until just moistened.
Sauce:
5. in a nonstick skillet, cook apples and remaining sugar over medium-high heat, stirring frequently for about 3 minutes, or until tender.
6. Pour in the juice, cook, stirring frequently for 2 minutes or until syrupy and softened.
Spoon over waffles.
