Not a typical shortbread recipe, but pretty tasty.

1. Cream butter until creamy, gradually blend in sugar until light. Add vanilla and almond flavour. Mix in sufficient flour to make a soft dough.
2. Turn out onto a pastry board and kneed in the balance of flour until cracks appear on the surface. Kneed well. You may not need all of the flour.
3. Roll out about 1/2 inch thick and cut into desired shapes.
4. Bake on an ungreased pan in a slow oven (300 degrees) until delicately brown, 10-15 minutes.
