Suggest a better description1. Heat olive oil in a dutch oven to medium. Add sausage and brown until there is a good fond on the bottom of the pan. Remove sausage and drain any excess grease.
2. Add onions, bell pepper, and celery and cook until soft. Add the sausage back to the pan.
3. Rinse rice in water and add to the pan with the salt and water.
4. Bring to a simmer, cover and cook for 15 minutes.
5. Remove from heat and add shrimp, stir and replace cover. Let the rice and shrimp steam for 10 minutes or until the shrimp is cooked through.
I usually don't add any more seasonings because the sausage is usually pretty seasoned but if you like extra spicy feel free to add some cajun seasoning.
