Ridiculously easy and delicious
Boil water or stock in a large, tightly-covered pot. Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 90 minutes. When cool enough to handle, remove the turkey meat from the bones, add it back to the soup, heat through and serve. Discard the bones. Surprisingly the smoked turkey alone, although high in sodium, does not add enough salt to the dish.
