Swami's yummy version
Prep ingredients:
1. Combine honey, mustard and brown sugar in amount necessary to glaze ham meat (2:1:2). Cut slices 50-75% through meat to allow for glaze and heat to permeate better. Bake glazed ham in Pyrex dish at 300 degrees for 20-25 minutes (up to 45 min if chunk, not slab of meat).
2. After chopping onions, sauté them to release their flavor.
Prepare soup:
3. Combine chicken broth, carrots, onion, split peas, ham bone and meat, salt, pepper and bay leaf into slow cooker. Cook on low for 4 hours. After 4 hours, check broth content and add more if needed. Continue cooking up to 8 hours until proper consistency.
