This Swiss Apple Tart (Apfelwähe) recipe is very delicious and relatively healthy at the same time. There’s a secret layer of crushed almonds at the bottom of the buttery pie crust and a luscious vanilla custard is poured over the sliced apples before baking.
You also need 1 tray of 28 cm ø.
1) Dough (if homemade):
Mix flour and salt. Add the butter and rub into a crumbly mass, form a well. Put in the quark. Combine into a dough, do not knead. Place between 2 sheets of baking paper, flatten it a little, roll out to the size of the tray with rolling wood. Place on the baking sheet, cut away the overlapping paper and dough with the scissors. Remove the top baking paper. Touch up the edge if necessary. Chill for 30 minutes. Prick the dough base tightly with a fork.
2) Spread the nuts on the dough base. Place the apple slices on top in a rosette shape. Preheat the oven to 220 ° C bottom / top heat (hot air / circulating air 200 ° C).
3) Vanilla Custard:
Mix all ingredients well in a plastic cup, pour over the apples.
4) Bake the flan in the lower half of the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes. Take out, let cool down and serve.
Tipp: Can be eaten hot or cold (I prefer cold). For the ones of you with a sweet tooth, it can be served with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if you like.
