This is my grandmother's version of mac and cheese. I remember having it when we would visit Maine as a kid.

1. Cook elbow macaroni to the directions on the package, choosing the lowest cook time.
2. Meanwhile, whisk a can of condensed tomato soup with milk, filling the can to measure. Simmer for 4 minutes.
3. Stir in the cheddar cheese. Taste and season as desired.
4. Stir in the cooked pasta and pour into a greased, or buttered, baking dish. Sprinkle with bread crumbs if desired.
5. Bake until top is golden brown.
I usually bake in a 350 degree preheated oven for 30 minutes in a square baking dish
