Southern Baked Beans

Southern Baked Beans

Ready in 45 minutes

Perfectly seasoned for that summer barbeque or whenever you want to eat them! Very quick and easy to make!

"Very good version of a true classic. I was going to post mine, but this one is so close I decided not to bother:)

When I smoke spare ribs, I trim them St. Louis style (removing the brisket strip) but smoke the strip by itself. Then I chop/shred the strip up and use it in this bean dish INSTEAD of the bacon (way too meaty with both...I tried it once). To die for!"

Are you making this?
1 pound Campbell's Baked Beans
1/4 cup Onion; chopped
1/2 cup Brown sugar; firmly packed
1/4 cup Ketchup
2 teaspoon Mustard
2 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
8 slices Bacon; cooked crisp & crumbled

Original recipe makes 6

The easiest bacon is the already cooked by Oscar Meyer, Hormel or Tyson. Basically, it's priced the same. Just pop it into the microwave for a couple of minutes and voila! no mess to clean! Crumble it, pull it apart to make small pieces.

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl.

Pour into a medium sized casserole dish. Bake at 350 until bubbly, about 40 minutes or less.

My husband loved these! I added parsley and a little extra brown sugar. Will make again.

Simple recipe that can be ready in less than 1 hour. Very tasty side dish with anything, and it was a big hit at our weekly Wednesday Night Dinner. The bacon is definitely the key. Thanks for the contribution.

This recipe is so yummy! I used two 16oz cans of Bush's beans and added in chopped smoked turkey sausage with the chopped bacon. I also added some cayenne pepper for a little heat. Will make these beans again for sure!
