This is a wonderful recipe that I got from our neighbor when I was a kid and it's been a family favorite ever since!
1. Position a rack int the center of the oven and preheat to 400 degrees. In a large bowl, toss the apples with the cinnamon and nutmeg. Turn into an 11 3/4 x 7 1/2 inch greased pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup water.
2. In a medium sized bowl combine the flour, butter, sugar and brown sugar with pastry blender. Cut until the mixture is crumbly and the pieces are smaller than peas. Crumble over apples. Bake 40-45 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Cool in pan 15 minutes. Serve with heavy cream if you wish.
