"Oh my goodness! This is an excellent recipe! Very easy an tasty. The sauce is so good. I made this recipe exactly following the instructions except that I did not have flank steak; I had sirloin that I needed to use up and I added sesame seeds at the end when I served it."

Chinese Beef with Broccoli Preparation

MARINADE:

Whisk together the baking soda, sugar, cornstarch, soy sauce, water, and vegetable oil in a large bowl. Toss in the thin sliced steak and coat with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least a hour.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In a small bowl stir together the soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, flour, and sherry until smooth then set aside.

In a large pan heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over high until shimmering. Add broccoli and saute for 3 minutes, stirring often. Transfer the broccoli over to a plate.

Carefully add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil to the hot pan. Add the marinated meat and half of the marinade's mixture to the pan. Saute for 3-4 minutes stirring often until the meat is done and no longer pink.

Stir back in the broccoli and the rest of the marinade mix and saute for one minute.

Serve over cooked rice.

Instead of brocolli i used long bean from my garden. My kids love the sweet flavour plus the meat was tender and easy for them.

This was delicious. After reading other reviews I added mushrooms and egg to bulk it up. Next time I will add water chestnuts as well.

A little sweet for my tastes but will make again but cut down on the sugar in the marinade and the sauce. Overall very good.

This was excellent! I did add a tsp of ginger paste to the marinade and I used corn starch instead of flour. Just thought it would work better. I also added onions and bell pepper to the beef. Overall awesome recipe will for sure make this again <3

This was delicious. It was the second time I made it. My husband loved it. Better than the chinese take out. I also added some fresh sliced mushrooms.

A delicious recipe, albeit a little on the salty side, even with reduced sodium soy sauce. We added 2 eggs in the beginning and water chestnuts with the broccoli for more texture and flavors.

This was delicious!! My family LOVES it. The flank steak and sherry make the biggest impact on this dish. I also added bok choy to the dish since we love vegetables in my family. I will definitely make this dish again.
