So easy to make, that it's probably the most dangerous cake recipe ever ;)

"Going into this I knew the "dream chocolate cake-in-a-cup" would be too dry, so I added all ingredients without a heaped teaspoon (especially flour), and held back on the oil a tiny tiny bit (2 and half spoons). Made sure I properly whisked the egg and added an extra teaspoon of semi-skimmed milk. Yes, the self-raising flour did rise a huge amount and collapse after, but it smelt and tasted extraordinary for a 5 minute cake..... I have a 800W microwave so I added 30 seconds to the time. Yes it was rubbery, but not too dry, and the taste came out fine."

Ingredients

Are you making this?
4 tbsp Flour
4 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp cocoa
1 egg; beaten
3 tbsp milk
3 tbsp oil
3 tbsp chocolate chips
a small splash of vanilla extract
1 large mug

Original recipe makes 2 Servings

Preparation

Add all the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cocoa) into a mug and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips and vanilla extract and mix again.

Put the mug in the microwave and and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high). The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed. Allow to cool a little and tip out if desired.

EAT! This can serve two people, if you want to feel slightly more virtuous.

I followed the recipe to a 'T' and it came out very rubbery and dry. I think next time I will add some marshmallow cream or caramel sauce to it to hopefully make it less dry/rubbery. The chocolate taste was there. Just needs some tweaking. Will try it again.

fast, delicious, and satisfied my chocolate craving. I made a bit of chocolate buttercream frosting, and it was perfect.

delicious, came out a bit rubbery though so i rate it 4 - probably because it was made in a microwave but great substition for cake. if i ever want a quick dessert i know what to do now. yumyum just had it. oh and i recommend anyone whos making this to try a sauce or some kind of cream with it as it may be dry for some. enjoy quick cooking :)
