Old fashioned molasses flavour
Bring beans, water and oil in a covered pot. Boil two minutes, remove from heat and let stand covered for one hour.
Return beans to boil; reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Drain beans, reserving 1 1/2 cups of liquid.
Cook onion with a tbsp butter until slightly browned.
Combine beans, bean liquid, onion, mosasses, mustard, brown sugar and bacon in a two-quart casserole or bean pot.
Bake on lowest oven rack at 300°F for four hours, stirring every hour. If beans become dry during baking, add boiling water.
Add 1 tbsp of Franks Sweet Heat BBQ sauce for a spicy, smokey flavour.
