A very light chocolate cake with an almost sponge like texture.
Turn oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
Melt butter and syrup in a bowl.
Add the butter.
Put eggs, milk and sugar into the bowl and beat mixture well with an egg beater.
Sift the flour, cocoa, baking powder and soda into a new bowl.
Mix well.
Add the butter syrup mixture and beat together.
Pour into a greased cake tin approximately 23cm round.
Mixture should be runny, if it is thick add extra milk.
Bake for 40-60 mins or until a skewer comes out clean.
Cool on a cake rack before icing.
The amount of mixing makes this cake very light so don't be afraid to over mix the mixture.
