In a large stock pot add tomatoes, chicken broth, margarine, sugar, onion and baking soda. Simmer for 1 hour. In a double boiler heat cream until hot. You can also use a small saucepan over low heat. Make sure the cream does not burn. Once heated, add to tomato soup and serve.
Creamy and tasty! This soup goes well with a slice of sourdough baguette!
JasmineAguayo 6m agoCondensed chicken broth is a special product that you can find in stores, but if you cannot, you can substitute it by either boil down 1/2 cup of home made chicken broth down to 1/4 cup. You may need to add a little extra salt to taste at the end. Alternatively, you can use use 1 bouillon cube or 1 tsp of boullion mix to 1/4 cup of water. 1/4 cup is 2oz.

twiggyrae 1y agoFlavor is spot on and the baking soda seemed to make it frothier which our family enjoyed.
