I've made these, they are delicious. If you want to lighten them up a lot, use lowfat milk and use Laughing Cow light cheese wedges. They're delicious and you save a LOT of fat. I use ground turkey or ground chicken. I have also found you don't need to cook them as long as it calls for, or, they're over cooked. 3-4 hours is really good in my opinion since the meat is browned.
Brown beef in a skillet with one clove of the garlic and seasonings. Drain and mix with remaining ingredients in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours.
