Delicious mixture of seafood in cream base. Seafood lovers dream

"I used this recipe as the base for my clam chowder to be served at a United Way soup fundraiser. People found me out for the recipe. I will post the revised recipe under clam chowder. This soup gets better as it simmers (used crock pot after cooking on stove) to allow roux to mellow and thicken."

Ingredients

1 stick Butter
1/2 cup Flour; add as required to make a roux
3 cups milk
2 can (12 oz) Chicken broth
4 Potatoes; quartered
1 medium Onion; chopped
4 slices Bacon; chopped into small pieces
2 12-oz cans Clams; drained, minced or chopped
2 12-oz cans Clams; undrained, minced or chopped
2 packages Crab
1 pound Shrimp; deveined, cut in half
Salt; to taste
Pepper; to taste
1 teaspoon Nutmeg
2 pints Heavy cream

Preparation

Mix butter and flour to make a roux. When throroughly blended, add milk to consistency if thin gravy. Add chopped onions and uncooked cut up pieces of bacon along with chicken broth and potatoes. Cook on medium until potatoes soft. Add clams and clam juice as well as any other seafood you want except shrimp. Simmer until consistency you desire. May add more milk or more roux if desired. Add heavy whipping cream and seasonings. The add shrimp. Continue to cook on medium heat until shrimp are pink throughout.

Taste great with Sourdough bread and Salad.

Very easy and very tasty. I used a mixture of prawns, salmon and kingfish and added all the fish last as only needed a few mins to cook.

Excellent recipe. Easy to tweak to suit your ingredients and preferences. I made mine with clams, salmon & shrimp. Tasty!

This was excellent! Everyone loved it & asked for the recipe! I didn't have crab so I substituted fresh salmon that I cut into small pieces and put it in when I put in the shrimp. Going out & buying crab today to make again!! Restaurant quality recipe!!!

I was very nervous when I made this never made a soup stew or chowder but followed ur direction to the letter and it came out lovely. Just curious how I could've made it thicker

It's a cold Melbourne (Aust) winter so I cooked this for my Yankee partner. We had some visiting San Fran recently, & I have to say this was a pretty good match!! Being vegetarian I used fish & shrimp paste- & prawns & squid rings bloody fab!!! paste,

Great taste. I made one major change in that I used a fresh broth I made this morning using lobster, crab and shrimp shells instead of chicken broth. Also melted a little cheddar into it just before serving.

This is a great seafood dish. I used clam base (minor's) in lieu of the chicken broth. I also used 10% cream as in other recipes I have found the heavy cream too rich for my taste.
