Suggest a better descriptionPreheat oven to 350. Grease a 1Q casserole.
Toss breadcrumbs with melted butter. Slice prepared apples thinly. Combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg & lemon peel.
Arrange 1/3 of crumbs in bottom of casserole. Top with 1/2 of the sliced apple, then add 1/2 of the sugar mixture. Repeat layers making sure
1/3 of the crumb mixture is left for the final step.
Stir the lemon juice & water together & sprinkle over top of the sugar mixture. Sprinkle reserved crumbs over the top. Bake for 1 hour or until apples are tender.
