In a bowl combine first 5 ingredients. Cut in butter until mix resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in buttermilk just until moistened. Gently fold in cheese and apples. Turn onto a floured surface. Knead 10 times. Pat into a 9" circle and place on greased baking sheet. Cut into 8 wedges. Bake at 375F for 22-25 min. until golden brown.
