2. Grease a 15x10x1 or 13x9x2 baking pan; set aside.
3. In large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, soda and salt; set aside.
4. In a medium saucepan, combine butter, cocoa, and 1 cup water. Bring mixture just to boiling, stirring constantly.
5. Remove chocolate mixture from heat and add to flour mixture and beat with an electric mixture on medium to high speed until thoroughly combined.
6. Add eggs, buttermilk and vanilla. Beat for 1 minute (batter will be thin). Pour into prepared pan.
7. Bake in 350° oven for 25 minutes (for 15x10x1 pan) or 35 minutes (for 13x9x2 pan), or until a toothpick comes out clean.
While baking prepare chocoloate-buttermilk frosting as follows:
1. In a medium saucepan combine 1/4 cup butter, 3 tablespooms unsweetened cocoa powder, 3 tablespoons buttermilk. Bring to a boil.
2. Remove from heat. Add 2 1/4 cups sifted powdered sugar and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until smooth. Add more buttermill if mixture is too dry.
Final step!
Pour warm frosting over warm cake, spreading evenly. Place cake in pan on wire rack; cool thoroughly.
