Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions, carrots, and cabbage. Stir to coat vegetables well with butter. Slice sausage lengthwise and cut into small pieces. Add the cut sausage. Saute. Then add garlic salt, and pepper to taste; stir. Cover and simmer over medium-low heat for 20 minutes until crisp-tender or to the desired doneness. Cut tomatoes into small pieces and add tomatoes and juice. Continue cooking for 10 minutes. Serve up bowl of the stew and accompany with bread if desired. Enjoy.
Could add a diced potato or 2 and some chicken broth if desired.
