Suggest a better description1. In large bowl, mix shortening and brown sugar until creamy.
2. Measure sour milk into cup and add baking soda. Pour this into bowl with shortening and brown sugar; stir.
3. Add eggs and spices, stirring after each ingredient.
4. Next, add chocolate chips and stir them in. Add only half of rolled oats at a time as batter will start to get stiff.
5. Sift baking powder into flour and add a little at a time, stirring well. When dough is mixed thoroughly, drop by teaspoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet. Or, if desired, chill covered in refrigerator for 1 hour until chilled, then bake.
6. Cookies should be baked in 325 oven for 12-15 minutes.
7. If you like soft cookies, you should take them out at 12 minutes even though they might not look like they're done.
