Melt butter in a large skillet over high heat. Add mushrooms and sauté for a few minutes, until mushrooms start to soften.
Add garlic to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant.
Stir in remaining ingredients and cook uncovered over medium heat for 30 minutes or until mushrooms are tender.
Notes:
You can use any variety of mushrooms you prefer. I use white button mushrooms and baby portabella mushrooms in the photos. I’ve also made this recipe with oyster, shiitake, and creminis. Just throw them all in the pan!
Use a damp paper towel to gently clean the dirt off of the mushrooms before slicing.
Do not soak the mushrooms in water. They will absorb the liquid and become very watery.
Cooking the mushrooms over high heat to a nice caramelization keeps them from having a rubbery texture.
Are Garlic Butter Mushrooms gluten-free? Yes, all of the ingredients are gluten-free.
Verify that your brand of Worcestershire sauce is gluten-free.
Omit the Worcestershire sauce for a low-carb/keto-friendly recipe.
Sometimes I sprinkle the cooked mushrooms with parmesan cheese.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
