One of a series of family recipes for pasta sauces all having been made and eaten for years.
Fry onions in butter and oil till soft. Add the bacon and fry till cooked. Add flour and stir into the butter and olive oil. Add the tomatoes, puree, wine and herbs and cook out the flour. Add the green pepper and simmer for about 1 hour. Add peas, if wanted, 10 minutes before serving.
Serve with the pasta of your choice.
