A tasty filling for tacos or tortillas or as a topping for nachos.
Grate the cheese and put it in a serving bowl.
Shred the lettuce and put it in a serving bowl.
Chop the tomato into small chunks and put it in a serving bowl.
Warm the tortilla wraps or taco shells to freshen them up if they are not home made.
Skin and chop the onion.
Peel the garlic clove and squash it with the flat side of a large knife.
In a large dry, preferably non-stick, pan, brown the meat on a medium heat until dry and crumbly. If there is much fat from the meat in the pan pour it off.
Add the onion and garlic and cook till it is soft.
Stir in all the herbs and spices and Worcestershire sauce and 3 tablespoons of the salsa.
Simmer gently till hot through.
Serve from the hot pan if possible or decant into a warmed serving dish.
Brown the meat like it says, first. It makes for a much less soggy mix and much more tasty mix and if there is too much fat on the meat you can pour it off.
Have sour cream and a jar of Jalapeno chillies available for those who want to cool down or heat up the spiciness of the dish.
Corn chips or creamy cooked polenta can be used for serving instead of taco shells or tortillas.
