Beat eggs til thick and lemon colored
Gradually add sugar and continue beating til smooth and well blended.
Add milk slowly to mixture.
Add remaining ingredients except vanilla.
Cook in double boiler until thick., stirring frequently.
Cool.
Add vanilla and and spread between layers.
