Suggest a better description1. Cook butter and onions until translucent, sprinkle with sugar, cook until soft and browned. Stir in garlic 1 minute. Add sherry.
2. Add onion mixture and beef broth to crock pot. Add salt, thyme, bay leaf. Cook on high 4-6 hours or low 8-10 hours.
3. Before serving, broil bread on each side. Place 3/4 cup of soup in oven safe bowl. Place broiled bread on soup. Top with cheese mixture. Broil until cheese is browned, about 2 minutes.
