Preheat oven to 350°.
Boil the squash and onion until tender and drain.
Mix in the egg and mash.
Add crackers and half of the cheese and mix thoroughly.
Pour into a lightly greased casserole dish.
Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top and bake for 25 - 30 minutes or until cheese is melted and slightly brown.
