Kim's recipe for soft cut out cookies
Cream sugar and Crisco together. Add egg and salt. Beat well. Mix in buttermilk. Add flour, soda and salt. Mix in vanilla and lemon. Do Not Double Recipe! Chill dough. Roll and cut out. Bake 8 - 10 minutes at 375 degrees.
