Aka "Texas Sheath Cake"
Sift together in large bowl, flour, sugar & salt. In saucepan place butter, shortening, cocoa & water. (Best to melt butter & shortening & add cocoa before adding water). Bring to rapid boil & pour over flour mixture. Stir well: add, mixing by hand the remaining ingredients ending with vanilla. Mix well. Batter will be quite thin. Pour into greased 16x11 in. pan or or one 9x13 & one smaller (biscuit pan). Bake 20 mins. at 400?. Leave in pan & ice while still hot.
For Icing:
Combine butter, cocoa & milk in saucepan. Bring to rapid boil. Remove from heat & add to sugar . In mixer, mix well. Add vanilla & nuts. Spread icing over cake in pan while still hot.
